Политика НДПА в полосе пуштунских племен Афганистана (1978-1992 гг.): стратегия, проблемы, результаты

Статья посвящена анализу политической линии просоветского правительства Народно-демократической партии Афганистана с момента ее прихода к власти в 1978 г. до демонтажа режима в 1992 г. по отношению к афганской части Зоны пуштунских племен На основе преимущественно афганских и советских источников рассмотрена ее эволюция от фактического игнорирования племен Кабулом в самом начале пребывания НДПА у власти, до попыток привлечь их на сторону правительства. Тем не менее, последние оказались лишь частично успешными.

Holidays and Everyday Life of «the Great Mogul» through the Eyes of the First English Travellers (late XVI – early XVII Centurie)

This article analyse the portrayal of Eastern ruler as ‘another’ culture by English travellers. The endeavour was to show what were early modern English perceptions of a way of life of the Emperor Jahangir. During the first period of English commercial presence in India, the figuration of a culture was represented by its ruler. This practice homogenized and simplified a culture, making it more easily knowable and thus inferior. In the English travel writing of East, a ruler quickly becomes the focus of the civilized/barbaric binary.

Studying the problem of memoria and res publica in a modern historiography includes the investigation of a funeral procession. In the works analysed in this article historians differently consider the priority of functions of historical memory in respect to pompa funebris: K.-I. Hölkeskamp singles out the communicative one, E. Flaig – the proving one, and U. Walter – both of them. E. Flaig’s pays more attention comparing with the other authors to the educational function as well.

American Domestic Information Campaigns, 1946–1950

One of the controversial issues in the American cold war studies still remains problem of public opinion importance for the government in its foreign policies making. Historians try to seek answer on the question: was it really so important for the American government to have people’s support of its foreign policy or it was just trying to have good image of themselves in public opinion, or may be something else? The author of this article makes an attempt to answer this question through domestic information campaigns of 1946-1950 analysis.

Power in Eastern City in Perception of the English Travellers at the End of XVI – Beginning of XVII Centuries

This article has analysed the portrayal of eastern countries as «another» culture by English travellers. The endeavour was to show what were early modern English perceptions of «Eastern» power. The «backwardness» of the «others» was portrayed in the English travel writings through critical remarks concerning the political system of the eastern countries. English traveller had the same view and thought that eastern cities were rich but they needed a good government.

The Issue of the «Last Villainge» in England of the XVI Century

The article studies the phenomenon of the «last villainge», which was discovered by A.N. Savin at the beginning of the XX century. The author examines the question of differences in the legal and social status of ordinary holders of land and «last villaints» in the XVI c. It introduces certain correction to the understanding of the agrarian peculiarity of England during the period of the capitalism genesis.
