The article examines the state of horse breeding in the Stalingrad region on the eve of the Great Patriotic War and the sharp decline in the number of horses during the war years. The influence of such factors as sending horses to the front, evacuation of livestock from the western regions of the country, wintering conditions, lack of feed, deterioration of animal care and the epidemiological situation in the region, an increase in the burden on horses and a sharp decrease in the birth rate is shown.

The article analyzes the specifics of the functioning of the financial system of Kuzbass during the Great Patriotic War. Based on archival data, the conditions for planning the regional budget are considered, initially within the borders of Novosibirsk, and after 26 January 1943 – within the borders of the newly formed Kemerovo region. A comparative analysis of the economic development of Kuzbass with other regions of the country allocated during wartime is carried out.

The aim of the research is to study the creative achievements of Moscow architects during the Great Patriotic War. Moscow architects made an invaluable contribution to military-defense construction, the construction of numerous evacuated and new industrial enterprises in the east of the country, and the restoration of cities destroyed by the war. 

The article identifies and analyzes the problems of organizing the educational process in the higher educational institutions of Voroshilovgrad region in 1943–1945. It is noted that, the higher educational institutions of the region were evacuated and began to establish the educational work, which was complicated by the low pace of restoration of the material and technical base, the involvement of students in production and mobilization for various jobs, and the transformation of curricula.

The editorial board of the journal in this article refers to an important event in the history of Saratov University – the 90th anniversary of the opening of the Faculty of History, which became the third Faculty of History in the RSFSR. The circumstances of the establishment of the faculty, the beginning and main stages of its activity are considered. The contribution to the training of specialists with higher historical education, the most important scientific achievements and the role of leading scientists are shown.

The authors of reviewed book, former students and graduate students of Ionenko talk about his formation as a historian, his achievements as a historian and social activities.
