Collecting warm clothes for soldiers and commanders of the Red Army during the Great Patriotic War (based on materials from the Kuibyshev, Penza and Saratov regions)

During the Great Patriotic War, patriotic movements to help the front were launched in all rear regions of the country. The paper examines one of these initiatives to collect warm clothes for the soldiers and commanders of the Red Army in the Kuibyshev, Penza and Saratov regions. Their residents immediately responded to the authorities’ call to help the front.

Problems of budget formation in Kuzbass during the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945)

The article analyzes the specifics of the functioning of the financial system of Kuzbass during the Great Patriotic War. Based on archival data, the conditions for planning the regional budget are considered, initially within the borders of Novosibirsk, and after 26 January 1943 – within the borders of the newly formed Kemerovo region. A comparative analysis of the economic development of Kuzbass with other regions of the country allocated during wartime is carried out.

The article is devoted to the history of cholera epidemics in the Russian Empire in the 20–30s of the XIX century with an emphasis on the events in the Lower Volga region in 1830–1831.

Family values and a child in Dagestan in late 19th – early 20th century: Historical and demographic aspect

The article examines the Dagestani family at the turn of the century. It notes that marital and family relations were rooted in religious beliefs. Authoritarian-patriarchal relationships characterized the family. Children were raised with unquestioning obedience and respect for their elders. It is concluded that during this period, the Dagestani family fragmented. However, traditional characteristics persisted: stable marriage, a patriarchal-authoritarian family structure, and large families.

These relationships have gone through a complex and contradictory path from their rejection by the Russian Orthodox Church and the state to the inclusion of the religious community in the social life of society.

Senior personnel of the military-industrial complex of the Penza region in 1941–1945

The article examines certain aspects of the activities of the heads of the military-industrial complex of the Penza region in 1941–1945. The specifics ofthe source base arethe limited corpus of documentsfromthe Penza Region State Archive andthe subjectivity of surveys offactories by local party bodies. The appointment of senior officials in the region considered in the article confirms the all-Union trend. Sometimes the dismissal was accompanied by a transfer to another job.

The evolution of leisure forms in the daily life of Saratov workers in the 1920–1930s

The article examines the evolution of various forms of leisure for Saratov workers in the 1920s and 1930s. When the Bolsheviks came to power, they began to pay great attention to the education of the “new man.” The object of this policy was, first of all, workers, among whom the practices proclaimed by the new government as “remnants of the past” – drunkenness and religiosity – were widespread. The contradictory policy of the party and state authorities towards the alcohol problem has been revealed.

Artels of disabled people as a part of industrial cooperation of Astrakhan Governorate in 1920s

The article analyzes the activities of disabled artels in the 1920s on the territory of Astrakhan Governorate. On the basis of archival material, first introduced into the scientific circulation, two invalid artels were singled out: “Inrybak” and “Ray of Cooperation”. Special attention is paidto production activities, financial indicators, personnel composition,their comparative analysis is carried out. The reasons of achievements and failures accompanying the artels throughout the period of their existence are shown.

Soviet armed formations in the fight against the insurgency in the territory of the Volga German region (March – April 1921)

The article examines one of the episodes of the struggle of Soviet armed formations against the peasant insurgency during the end of the Civil War. We are talking about the suppression of an uprising in the territory of the Volga Germans in March – April 1921.
