«Kazhduju Russkuju Notku Tsenit’ na Ves Zolota…»: the Pages of Dispute on Book N. Danilevsky

This article is devoted to the dispute about the Russian art, which are developed as regards the Danilevsky’ book «Russia and Europe». There were distinguished the points of view Danilevsky and Vladimir Soloviev, his opponent, from the positions of Russian art intellectuals. The well-known critic Vladimir Stasov, who represented nationalistic tendency among Russian artists and musicians, appeared against Soloviev’s side in this dispute. This significant fact was not considered in the scientific literature.

A Failed Alliance: the Functioners of «The New Russian School» on the Service of Alexander III

The author of this article points out a complicated relations between the Imperor Alexander III and the functioners of «The New Russian School». There are examined Alexander’s nationalist preferences in painting and music and his policy toward the fine arts in Russia. The article demonstrate some similarities in concepts of «Russian» and «National» between the Imperor and the members of «Russian Five» and explane the reasons of their failed alliance.

ANTISTASOV: СONSTRUCTION ОF ADVERSARY’S IMAGE IN THE «NOVOE VREMYA»

This article is devoted to the analysis of the image of Stasov, outstanding Russian art critic, from the direction of his enemies in the newspaper «Novoe Vremya» («New Time»). There is distinguished the polemics, which is developed in the national periodical press as regards the productions ofV. V. Vereshchagin, I. Ye. Repine, M. M. Antocolsky and «The New Russian School» leaders. This productions, presented by Stasov as picture of «the Russian direction», were roughly criticized by the «Novoe Vremya».
