Family values and a child in Dagestan in late 19th – early 20th century: Historical and demographic aspect

The article examines the Dagestani family at the turn of the century. It notes that marital and family relations were rooted in religious beliefs. Authoritarian-patriarchal relationships characterized the family. Children were raised with unquestioning obedience and respect for their elders. It is concluded that during this period, the Dagestani family fragmented. However, traditional characteristics persisted: stable marriage, a patriarchal-authoritarian family structure, and large families.

The Women and Children Problem in German Families of the Saratov Right-Bank Volga Region and its Transformation (mid 1760s – late 1920s)

The article is devoted to the underinvestigated aspects of the daily life of the German colonies of the Saratov Right-Bank Volga Region. The author analyses family, legal and property status of a woman in a German peasant family. The author also examines the relationships between the spouses, parents and children.

The research of family structure of German settlements on the Volga River in the middle of XIX-th century: based on "Gnilushka" colony (Pfeifer)

The article is devoted to the research of family structure of German settlements in the Volga Region in the middle of XIX-th century, based on the analisys of "Gnilushka" colony in the Kamyshin district of Saratov province. Family structure model of the colony is being studied by the enumeration lists from the point of view of demographic analysis and J. Handzhnal's theory of existence of a unique European-type marriage.
